About the Author:
Jake Hawkes has recently moved back to the place he grew up--Healdsburg--where he is making wine. This is his first published story and he's now working on a novel set in California, tentatively entitled Sonoma.

Books by Annie Dawid include Lily in the Desert: Stories, and York Ferry, a novel. Her current project is a historical novel about the massacre at Jonestown, Guyana in 1978.

What You Have Left by Will Allison will be published in spring 2007 by The Free Press, an imprint of Simon & Schuster. Other chapters have appeared in Zoetrope, One Story, Kenyon Review, Cincinnati Review, Shenandoah, and Atlanta Magazine.

The Man with My Face by Jennifer Tseng won the AAWW National Poetry Manuscript Competition and was published by the Asian American Writers' Workshop in spring 2005. She is currently at work on a novel.

Sir Robert Olen Butler has published ten novels, most recently Fair Warning and Mr. Spaceman; three volumes of short stories, one of which, A Good Scent from a Strange Mountain, won the 1993 Pulitzer Prize for Fiction; and From Where You Dream: The Process of Writing Fiction, comprised of his lectures on the creative process. He teaches creative writing at Florida State University in Tallahassee.

Rachel Klein is the author of the novel The Moth Diaries. Her stories and translations have appeared in the Chicago Review and the Literary Review.

Books by Steven Polansky include the story collection Dating Miss Universe and a recently completed novel, Basher. His novel The Bradury Report is forthcoming from Harcourt.

Vinnie Wilhelmis working on a collection of short stories. His fiction has been published in the Southern Review and the Sonora Review.

Christi Clancy is currently a graduate student in the creative-writing program at the Univ. of Wisconsin-Milwaukee.

Julie Hirsch received an MFA from the University of Arizona and lives in Tucson. This story is her first publication.

Tim Hurd directs and produces at The River Theater in Astoria, Oregon. His play The Sweet Scent of Apples appeared in 2001.
